Yurts
Tasman Canvas has more than 20 years of expertise in yurt design and construction and was recognised with a BCA-approved award-winning design in 2012. Over the years, we’ve developed a deep understanding of how to combine strength, function, and beauty in every piece of work we create.
While we no longer build complete yurts, our focus now lies in crafting custom-made parts, including canvas covers, insulation, liners, and replacement panels, tailored to fit both new and existing structures. Each project is approached with precision and care, ensuring that every component aligns perfectly with your frame design and environmental needs.
Using high-grade, weather-resistant materials, Tasman Canvas products are built to withstand New Zealand’s diverse conditions, providing lasting protection and comfort. Whether you’re refreshing an existing yurt or building something new, our craftsmanship ensures a seamless blend of quality, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
Each yurt component is made to order, giving you the flexibility to create a structure that reflects your style and stands the test of time.
Over the years, Tasman Canvas has formed strong, long-standing partnerships with leading New Zealand yurt makers.

  Testimonials
Tasman Canvas were there to advise us through our whole project, using their knowledge and experience of yurt living. Having designed, lived in and been through the compliance processes for yurts, their practical, can-do attitude was invaluable. We trusted their thorough research into the most durable and eco-friendly materials, which helped our yurt out-live it’s life expectancy.

Custom Yurt covers
I had the luck of finding Tasman canvas several years ago when I was looking to recover our yurt, it has an 8 meter diameter floor space with 5 windows, a door and a wood fire inside, it had been home-built and, whilst a beauty, the canvas had all rotted allowing rain to permeate and soak the insulation.
In conversations with Tasman Canvas, it became clear that the team knew what they were doing. The measurements taken were a process which a visit to us at the Yurt’s location in lower North Island, something we were really happy with that also showed an extra level of attention to the process.
Some extra details were added, two new windows and the dome at the apex, and at the day of fitting it all worked out perfectly. The yurt has now been standing with the TC covers for 7 years and is standing strong. I wholeheartedly recommend Tasman Canvas. An excellent level of service, great communication, and superb craftsmanship.
